Code of Ethics

What did you learn from reading the NPPA Code of Ethics?

The one I learn the most about was nr 4 which said the following:  Treat all subjects with respect and dignity. Give special consideration to vulnerable subjects and compassion to victims of crime or tragedy. Intrude on private moments of grief only when the public has an overriding and justifiable need to see. It is easy to see photography just as a fun thing you can do without making controversy and harm. You see something that you find interesting and then it is just to take a photo, But it is not that simple. In some places, it can even be forbidden to take photos. An example of that is when a product is about to release and you get a first look before it comes out publicly. You probably want to take a photo, but you can’t.

Which items in the NPPA Code of Ethics do you believe are the most important?

And because I talked about it is important to respect rules and policies, I think the most important rule for me is second number 6, which was the following: Respect the integrity of the photographic moment. A very simple and short text that has important and rich information.

How will reading this affect how you take photographs in the future?

I will for sure think an extra time when I am in public places and take photos. When I am with my family in friends I will probably not think about it as much, but when there can lead to negative results for something or someone It is always good to be and on the save side and think over it again. An example of this was: Avoid political, civic, and business involvements or other employment that compromise or give the appearance of compromising one's own journalistic independence.
